iikoCard
Referral Program

The referral program is a partner program designed to attract new customers with the help of existing ones. In iikoCard, we have a one-level referral program where participants receive bonus points only for the customers they invited. 

A referral program may be configured as a separate campaign that includes gifts or discounts or as a part of an existing program, e.g., bonus or deposit program.

A guest that comes upon a recommendation is a current guest of an order. He or she shall indicate a telephone number or email of the person who gave the recommendation. Both receive bonus points, a discount or a gift. For new guests to receive gifts under a referral program, register them in iikoCard. A recommendation giver is saved in the current guest card so that he or she would receive a reward at a later time.

Adding a recommendation giver

When a customer comes upon a recommendation:

  1. While in iikoFront, create a new order, add menu items.
  2. Select an existing guest or register him/her in iikoCard. For this:
    1. Tap Discount/Surcharge > New guest. Enter the guest’s Name and Phone. Tap OK.
    2. Ask the guest who made the recommendation. Tap Specify recommendation giver. The button is active only when an order has a linked guest. In case of a new guest, enter his/her referring customer’s phone number or email used in the system. Tap OK.
  3. If, according to the campaign terms, a guest is entitled to a gift, you will see a prompt with this gift. Add it to the order.
  4. If the campaign includes additional bonus points, both the guest and his/her referring customer shall get them once the order is closed.
  5. Close the order as usual.

Example settings

Let’s consider example settings of referral programs: a separate one with a menu item as a gift, and within a bonus program.

Gift for a friend

Campaign: invite a friend and get a pizza for yourself and your friend. A guest, registered in iikoCard, suggests his/her friend visiting a restaurant. The friend shows up, names his recommendation giver and gets a free pizza.

When a recommendation giver arrives, he/she also gets a free pizza. One pizza per one invited friend. If two guests invited by one customer arrive at the same time, a recommendation giver still get one pizza. 

To set up the campaign:

  1. Go to Guests > Guest categories and create two categories: “Gift received under referral program” and “Give a gift under referral program.” They will be used for further program setup.
  2. Go to iikoCard5 > Programs and create a new program. 
  3. In the Program type, select the “Discounts, gifts, combos (without account)” item since your guests will receive a menu item as a gift.
  4. Create the campaign and click the Edit button next to it. 
  5. Create the first block and add:
    • The “Guest showed up on recommendation” condition, click Save.
    • The “Guest does not belong to category” condition with the “Gift received under referral program” category. It allows to make sure that a guest does not participate in a campaign twice.
    • The “Free dish” action.
    • The “Assign category to guest” action. In the first action, select the Category - “Gift received under referral program” and specify the Apply to - “Order guest.” This action registers that a guest has already received a gift. In the second action, select the Category - “Give gift under referral program” and select the Apply to - “Recommendation giver.” To give a gift to the recommendation giver, his/her category will be verified in the next block.
    • The “Exclude guest from category” action. Specify the Category - “Gift received under referral program” and select the Apply to - “Recommendation giver.” 
  6. Create the second block and add:
    • The “Guest belongs to category” condition. Select the “Give gift under referral program” category. In this block, a gift is given to the recommendation giver, therefore you have to be sure that he/she belongs to the specified category.
    • The “Free dish” action with the same menu item as in the first block.
    • The “Assign category to user” action. Specify the Category - “Gift received under referral program” and select the Apply to - “Recommendation giver.”
    • The “Exclude user from category” action. Specify the Category - “Give gift under referral program” and select the Apply to - “Recommendation giver.”
  7. Save the program settings.

Bonus points for a friend

There a bonus program and campaign active in the restaurant: invite a friend and get 150 points for yourself and your friend. A referred guest would get bonus points only once, but a recommendation giver would receive bonus points for each referred friend.

Register a new guest in iikoCard. The system would automatically create a bonus account for him/her and credit 150 points.

To set up the campaign:

  1. Go to Guests > Guest categories and create the “Referral program bonus” program. It will be used for further program setup.
  2. Go to the iikoCard5 > Programs section and open an active bonus program.
  3. Create a new block and add:
    • The “Guest showed up on recommendation” condition.
    • The “Guest does not belong to category” condition. Specify the “Referral program bonus” Category
    • Two similar actions - “Top up account in the amount of”. Specify 150 points in the Amount field for both. In one action the Apply to is “Order guest”, in another - “Recommendation giver.” 
    • The “Assign category to user” action. Select the “Referral program bonus” Category and specify “Order guest” in the Apply to
  4. Save the program settings.
